Role

A Clerk of Works shall mean a person whose duty it is to superintend the construction  of building or other works on behalf of the Client, ensuring the work is carried out in accordance with the drawings and specifications and to the required quality.

The Institute of Clerk of Works of Great Britain Incorporated was formed in 1882 following encouragement by many prominent Architects of that period.
